The NCCAOM is governed by the Chief Executive Officer and ten Commissioners who are voted into office by general election. In approving nominations, the Nominating Committee considers diversity in ethnicity, gender, geographic distribution, professional experience, education and school of thought within the profession. |

As an NCCAOM®
triple Diplomate, Jan Ste Germaine has been in an Oriental
Medicine (OM) private practice for 22 years. In that time,
she sat as a director on a national board; created,
administrated, and taught OM programs in the Kansas City
metroplex, in massage schools and community colleges;
participated in Missouri and Kansas legislative initiatives
to secure the profession; and presented lectures and
seminars in local businesses building bridges with the
community. Privileged to study with Shiatsu Master Shizuko
Yamamoto, she transitioned from a 14-year career teaching in
the public schools to Shiatsu practitioner. Further studies
in Boston included instruction from Cindy Banker and Barbara
Blanchard at the New England Shiatsu Center.
In October, 1992 she traveled
to Beijing, China to study at Guan-an-men Hospital of
Traditional Chinese Medicine. In 1994-1995 she attended a
two-year course in Chinese Herbal Medicine with Ted J.
Kaptchuk, OMD. Ste Germaine graduated in 1999 with a
master’s of science in Oriental medicine from the Midwest
College in Chicago, Illinois.
Member of AAAOM, AOBTA®,
and the AAM (Acupuncture Association of Missouri), she
serves as chair of AAM’s Fundraising Committee. In 2007 she
was nationally elected to NCCAOM®’s Board of
Commissioners and now serves on NCCAOM®’s
Eligibility Committee, Finance/Audit Committee,
Recertification Committee and the Foundations of Oriental
Medicine Exam Development Committee.
Ste Germaine has been honored
with the AOBTA President’s Award, an Outstanding Service
award in 1998, and Continued Service award in 2005.
