Board of Commissioners
The NCCAOM is governed by the Chief Executive Officer and ten Commissioners who are voted into office by general election. In approving nominations, the Nominating Committee considers diversity in ethnicity, gender, geographic distribution, professional experience, education and school of thought within the profession.

Kory Ward-Cook Ph.D., MT(ASCP), CAE

Dr.
Ward-Cook has over 35 years of experience as a medical
laboratory professional, educator, and executive in
association management. She is certified as a medical
technologist, MT(ASCP) and is a Certified Association
Executive (CAE). From 1999 to 2004, Dr. Ward-Cook served as
the Executive Director for the American Society for Clinical
Pathology’s (ASCP) Board of Registry and Senior Vice
President for the ASCP.
In the past, Dr. Ward-Cook
has served as a faculty member and a program director for
both a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) program and a
Medical Technology (MT) program. While serving as a faculty
member and program director of the MT program in the School
of Allied Health Professions at the Ohio State University,
Dr. Ward-Cook also maintained a joint faculty appointment in
the Department of Pathology. As a tenured Associate
Professor, Dr. Ward-Cook instructed and served as an advisor
for undergraduate students in medical technology, graduate
students in the School of Allied Health Professions and the
Department of Pathology.
Currently, Dr. Ward-Cook
serves as the Chief Executive Officer for the National
Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental
Medicine (NCCAOM®). During her tenure at the
NCCAOM® she has been instrumental in bringing
computer based testing to the organization, and facilitated
an 86% increase in the media and public awareness of the
acupuncture and Oriental medicine profession through press
releases and pubic relations efforts. In 2007, Dr. Ward-Cook
successfully orchestrated a successful relocation of the
national headquarters from Alexandria, Virginia to
Jacksonville, Florida. In 2008 she co-directed the
organization’s most recent practice analysis resulting in
the publication of the 2008 Job Task Analysis: A Report to
the AOM Profession. Dr. Ward-Cook also serves as a member of
the Board of Directors for the Academic Consortium for
Complementary and Alternative Health Care (ACCAHC).
